Let’s face it, there’s no shortage of mexican food restaurants in North County San Diego, but, in my opinion, El Callejon Restaurant rises a good head and shoulders above many of the rest. This is no ordinary mexican restaurant, it’s pretty extraordinary. Here’s why;

• The atmosphere – 9 out of 10 – fun is definitely the order of the day here. The outside patio area has a lovely feel to it, there are some very definite Mexican vibes going on.
• The service – 8 out of 10 – it’s good, it’s attentive, you’re made to feel very welcome, why not a 10? There’s always room for improvement and I don’t dish out 10’s “willy nilly” you know . . .
• The food – 10 out of 10 – the food here is awesome, starting with the delicious chips and salsa, then going on to whatever takes your fancy. My personal favorite is the chicken tortilla soup, and the enchilladas, and the taco plate, and the avocado and shrimp . . .  you’ve guessed it, I love it all!
• The drinks – 9 out of 10 – there’s a terrific drinks menu including (of course) lots of margaritas . . . happy hour starts at 3pm, at which time it’s a definite 10 out of 10!

Okay, great atmosphere, great ambience, great food, great drinks . . . what else do you need for a great time?
