10 News San Diego reports – CATALINA ISLAND, Calif. – Warnings were posted around a Catalina Island diving area Saturday after a great white shark was spotted, authorities said.
Three people reported seeing the 12- to 15-foot shark at about 2:30 p.m. near the Outskirt Dive Bar, said Los Angeles County firefighter Gustavo Medina.
“No one was injured or attacked,” Medina said.
Warnings were posted in the area but it was not shut down for scuba diving, he said.
This shark scare came within a couple weeks of a shark attack on a woman in the water off Orange County the day before Memorial Day, and subsequent sightings and ocean closures of sharks in the same Orange County areas.
