Amazing. However, Dinoflagellates possess a unique nuclear structure at some stage of their life cycle – a dinokaryotic nucleus (as opposed to eukaryotic or prokaryotic), in which the chromosomes are perminently condensed. The cell wall of many dinoflagellates is divided into plates of cellulose (“armor”) within amphiesmal vesicles, known as a theca. These plates form a distinctive geometry/topology known as tabulation, which is the main means for classification.

It’s been at least 3yrs or more since I’ve witnessed this. So awesome even when u walk on the wet sand as the tide goes back out u leave glowing footprints! So cool.
Is there a website or other source of info to let me know the next time the red tide comes back?

According to marine biologist Jorge Ribas, the glowing is caused by a massive red tide, or algae bloom, of bioluminescent phytoplankton called Lingulodinium polyedrum. The microorganisms emit light in response to stress, such as when a wave crashes into the shore, a surfboard slashes through the surf, or a kayaker’s paddle splashes the water. The result is a wickedly cool glowing ocean.

Something that beautiful doesn’t need a heavy music track. Distracting.
