The following email was sent to the Encinitas City Council:

Mayor Barth, Deputy Mayor Shaffer and Council Members Gaspar, Muir and Kranz:

The U.S. Postal Service is reviewing the Leucadia Post Office Station for possible closure as part of its national cost-cutting program.

We urge the City Council to pass a resolution in support of the Leucadia Post Office Station and deliver it to the Encinitas Postmaster.

The Leucadia Post Office Station is financially viable for the Postal Service; heavily relied upon by Leucadia residents; and a Leucadia community center. Further, closing the Leucadia Post Office Station would add further pressure on the Garden View Postal Station, which is already operating at capacity.

The Leucadia Post Office Station is one of the things that make Leucadia the town it is. We hope you’ll exert your best efforts to keep it open and operating.
