Toby The World's Most Loving Cat Who Thought He Was A Dog

This video won’t mean much unless you knew Toby The Cat, shown here relaxing in his final day of life on the closet floor at 105 N Vulcan on his last day of life. He was 16 years old, came to California from Grand Rapids Michigan in 2000, and had a full and happy life roaming the bluffs over the Pacific Ocean behind our home in on Neptune Ave in Encinitas California near Stone Steps and Moonlight Beach. Toby was a cat who thought he was a dog, greeting me at the door each evening when I came home from work. After we bought and moved to the Inn At Moonlight Beach in 2008, Toby charmed our guests by greeting them as the got out of their car in the lot. He developed an inoperable tumor and we sent him to the big coastal bluff in the sky on May 7, 2009 about 2 hours after I shot this video. He is so weak in the video that he can barely lift his head, but he was purrrrrring like crazy. Toby loved people and we loved Toby, bringing him out to California after our best friend, Rosemary Walker, died of breast cancer. Rosemary raised Toby on her lap when she was ill, and he loved her and loved people. We miss Toby – a LOT.

This is a beautiful, sweet video – even if you don’t know the cat – it’s obvious how much you loved him, and how he loved you. He knew he was loved, and he trusted you to take care of him right to the end. Blessings to you and to Toby at the Bridge.
