In World Aquatic News: A drone has captured video of a woman surrounded by orca as she was swimming off Hahei beach on the Coromandel Peninsula New Zealand. Judie Johnson said she was out for a swim by herself last week when she found herself with unexpected company. Three Orcas approached her, then followed her as she swam along the shore break.

Then I realized they were Orcas.”
The swimmer said she looked directly into the adult orca’s huge eye.

Johnson said, “There was a shape that went under me, like a huge shape and I thought [it was] dolphins and I was quite excited, and then I saw the great white colour on the back.”

“It was so different to anything that’s happened to me before,” Johnson told the New Zealand-based 1 News Now. “I thought, no, this is a life-changing experience.”

Both Johnson and the orcas were unharmed.

While orca whales are carnivores — they feed on seals, sea lions and sometimes other whales, according to National Geographic — they don’t typically attack humans, and there have been no reported instances of a killer whale eating a human, according to Whale Facts.
